Getting started

Rolling it out

Watch it in shadow mode, tune it, then let it act.

jev-guard starts in shadow mode on purpose. Every server’s chat is different, and you should see how Jev judges yours before it hides anything.

1. Watch in shadow mode

Leave mode: shadow for a few days. Every flagged and review-worthy message is written to the server log, with its category and how sure Jev was. Nothing is hidden, nobody is warned, and staff get no alerts yet:

Server logOutput
[FLAG] player=xXSniperXx category=harassment p=0.97 confidence=0.97 mode=shadow message="you're so stupid"
[REVIEW] player=DiamondDan category=harassment p=0.62 confidence=0.62 mode=shadow message="keep talking and I'll find where you live"

Set privacy.log-message-content: false to leave the message text out.

2. Look at the edge cases

When a verdict surprises you, check the message yourself:

In game or the consoleCommands
/jevguard test that boss kills me every time lol

It shows every category’s probability. To run a batch of typical chat, put it in simulate-messages.txt and use /jevguard simulate start.

3. Tune

  • Wrong category? Reword its description. Jev reads it literally, so write the exact condition. See categories.
  • Too eager or too lax? Move the category’s threshold.
  • Normal chat flagged? Describe it in safe-description, for example the trash talk your players use.

Run /jevguard reload after each change.

4. Let it act

Switch to deliver, or to hold if bad messages must never be seen. See modes. Keep the review band: unclear messages still go to your staff instead of being acted on.
